Jul 6, 2008 - This is rock...I wish there were bands like this today...rock just isn't what it used to be...Sabbath was an innovative band...they brought rock to a new light and age...now all we have is a bunch of boy band fags singing about their damn girlfriend leaving them...I do have to say that I do like Alter Bridge & Godsmack, I liked Audioslave and Soundgarden of course, Metallica isn't what they used to be but at least they are still around...I'll listen to Ozzy any day, and BLS can still kick ass!

Jul 6, 2008 - lol depends on what u mean bye "good",because sabath isnt hard to play compared to death metal but the riffs are very crative and sabath wouldnt be the same without the crafty lyrics.

Nevarrus Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - Well. Death Metal sounds like shit and is just hitting / playing scales and toms as fast as you possibly can. No genius or feeling in it at all. Now, Sabbath, there you have all of it. Groovy, feeling, POWER, meaning and such.Best metal Band ever.

thewarriorsrok Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - death metal is fucking shit, blacvk sabbath made the heaviest songs ever, but all of them were poetic.

slipskater4 Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - i dont think deathmetal is shit, but i think black sabbath is heavier than any other band today, i love cannibal corpse and there extremely heavy, but sabbath just has there own heavienss which is heavier than anyother band today, singing about satan today is common, back then it was one of the scariest things to people

MightySaturn5 Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - Yeah slip I agree...as far as tone in concerned I think its ironic that Black Sabbaths heaviest tone guitar wise was probably in the verses of the Wizard- very deep but having a nasal 'Screaming' tone to it at the same time...its ironic because this recording was made in 69'(70 release) making it one of their oldest recordings. If a 1969 recording can hold its own in this day and age the tone must have been the most shocking, cutting edge shit heard at the time of its release.

MightySaturn5 Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - its not only the guitar though...the bass is overwhelmingly deep with a sweet overdriven edge to it...the vocals are extremely raw and raspy with a deep, manic tone to them-these were his best vocal days...of course drummers have always loved Bill Wards work here-one of the best recording of a set at that time-1st modern bass drum tone (punchy with tight mid slap) plus his use of powerful off-beats,odd timed cow bell etc.-some of his best work.Sad they didn't stay this way very long
