Ledvolta Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I felt the same. But I didn't feel quite right, criticising these great musicians.

dvit12 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - wow this is just awesome

tormentor91 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I agree with you too, but i think it would have been enough if he simply changed his guitars settingeven a clapton signature (not his custom shop) strat can get a real fat tone compared to a standard strat, he simply for some reason wants this (and the Cream Reunion) to sound more "straty"

Aug 21, 2008 - cant get enough of this classic blues stuff!! a recent development for me.i know its terrible, but i didnt know about the bluesbreakers until i read about them in an article about stephen dale petit (highly recommended youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=vbVFdlcyheI)am hooked. give me more.

Aug 21, 2008 - Are there any videos of Clapton with Mayall in the late 60's? I'm sick of seeing videos of the modern day Clapton, with his trebley tone and watered-down versions of songs.

scooterstrats Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - yeah i got to play several original 59's thru proper amps (via a close "well to do" friend of mine), and this is not the same. I have to wonder if anybody woke up EC for this gig.

buud77 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - saw him last night in camden. Sooooo good!

klarmer Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - john mayall is blues

Snotra Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - That Strat sounds so thin!! I wish he would have used a Gibson. Fenders have sustain of a banjo.

Jarrahnut Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Great clip! Loved it! Can someone please run through the names of the various musicians. Best wishes to one and all from Jarrahnut in beautiful Western Australia.

xxRockst4r Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - It's so cool on other clips when clapton steps back and Buddy whittington rocks the stage. He plays the shit out of clapton.

oblanob Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - fredie king is the real thing

tormentor91 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - don't want to say buddy whittington is bad, but you really can say that he's not on the same level,he's really good, but clapton seems to hold back, look at him while he's playing here (the whole show) and look at him on another video you can see it, he gives not nearly everything

Homofob07 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - true but improvised soloing buddy kicks his ass.

rokyfireloadat32 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Fucking rock legends man, I love it! Wish Iwas there!1!!1!!!

twangalot2 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - God I hate Clapton playing Stratocasters - his guitar sounds so thin and weedy compared to that '66 Bluesbreakers version on his Les Paul. Same with the recent Cream reunion. Yuk.Eric! Play a Les Paul again!

pheskesen Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - John Mayall (keyboard/harmonica), Buddy Whittington (guitar), Joe Yuele (drums), Hank van Sickle (bass), Tom Canning (organ)- the Bluesbreakers. Plus Eric Clapton and Chris Barber (trombone).

Jarrahnut Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Thank you, pheskesen. Hang on! ... Is that really Chris Barber ... of the one and only Chris Barber Jazz Band?

Jarrahnut Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I agree with you twangalot ... and do you ... er ... twangalot?Greetings from Colin in wonderful Western Australia!

MichaelJamesRichard Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - One reason it sounds thin is that he's playing it much truer to Freddie's original, on the 1st and 2nd strings for the main lick. I believe he played the Bluesbreaker version on the 2nd and 3rd strings up at the 4th fret, which has much meatier sound to begin with, let alone being on an LP. He was at his top of his game in the Bluesbreakers...

hambuns Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - it dont matter whether it sounds like the original - time moves on and we should appreciate what we are given - hope we can still do this stuff from our bathchairs!!

grizzzlymx Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - wow !!! amazing, thanks this is great.
