He gets all of the coarser, rougher sounds from the flute, where another flautist would play the softer melodies more familiar to classical music. If you watch a few of his other videos, you'll see what I mean. He has his masters in music, so he's not just blowing into a metal pipe. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Jul 20, 2008 - I agree with the flute being too loud but I dont think he would get the sound that needed without blowing hard enough which gives the flute its volume. This should get recorded in a studio.
