Aug 21, 2008 - English doesn't come from latin, it comes from German.

Aug 21, 2008 - "English doesn't come from latin, it comes from German." Sort of. The Normans brought their language with them, so I speak a hybred French/Anglo-Saxon. What other language has one word for food on the plate (beef) and another for food on the hoof (cow)? Those double legal terms, like breaking and entery? One's from Saxon, the other French. Then there's some Danish, Welsh and (if you live out in the boondocks) Tagalog thrown in!Spanish is a fairly sensible language. English is ... a challenge!

Aug 21, 2008 - The song is a soundtrack from the movie "The Last of The Mohicans" and its composed by Randy Edelman. It is not "The Gael", the them comes from "The Gael" but its the soundtrack for Last of the mohicans. Also the group "Holymen" makes a good techno version out of it. They call it The Last Universe, check it out.

asieh100 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - to aoeoroberts, i am sorry if it sounded like i meant Native Americans were all gone. In fact i know from personal experience what a remarkable diverse group of individuals they are. But the land they loved so much was stolen. And so many were forced on reservations. As i stood on a mesa long ago with the wind whipping around me, i had a wonderful talk with an elderly Navajo women, who explained so much. Through her eyes i could see the awful truth of how these people were treated.

Aug 21, 2008 - THANK YOU. Your story cheered me up (getting over one mean cold, so thank you again). It's just that, every now and again on YouTube, a person from Europe or Asia will say "I thought the Indians were all dead." The old ways, perhaps, in many parts. But come on up the the North West, try some salmon at a pow-wow and hear the story of Celilo Falls (you can find it here on YouTube, too!)If I know you're coming, I'll make you a cedar flute (like I need an excuse to waste more time with wood!)

Aug 21, 2008 - Dude, Algonquins ROCK. I was reading a few years back about how they stood up to the US Government over the wild rice harvest, and the feds were forced to stand down. Wow! I'm sorry I missed that. And the current fight against the Canadian government, who wants to mine uranium. Man, where do I sign up?
