Aug 21, 2008 - yes he drank him self to death. :( its sad more people dont know about him.. i personally think his strat tone was better than claptons guitar tone.. playing cant argue that cause we all play different/styles/influences... and we all have our favorites.. .. im talking tone... and i liked rorys tone over claptons... ill get flamed im sure.. have a drink on me :)

Aug 21, 2008 - What's sad is that people keep saying that he drank himself to death (he didn't). What's even sadder is that it's often the first thing they tell others about him. As if they think it's more important or interesting than a 30 year career of absolute commitment to making quality music.

Aug 21, 2008 - Amen brother. No matter how he went his life was devoted to his music....for our benefit!
Shadowplay95 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - Bullshit justafuitardude. There is enough info on the web about his life for you to know better. It astounds me that people will knowingly confirm their ignorance in public!
justaguitardude Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - i read he died from health issue on the web.. due to his liver. Please inform me of how he died then so we are all informed. just like here cant believe everything you read. No need to go off. I have no problem with being corrected.. no need for hostility man. rory rocks.. and always will in my heart. peace. no disrespect ment.. he maybe gone but will live on forever through his music.
Nonameshame Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - He went in for a liver transplant back in 96 and while he was recovering he caught a BUG in the hospital (common Cold) and could not fight that off and that is what took Rory from us.:( There is a video that talks about this.

Shadowplay95 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - Apologies justaguitardude, i may have over reacted. Some people assume he was a drunk and drug user. The man gave everything to his music and subsequently us to the detriment of his own health. He was driven, manic, depressed, obsessed, consumed......... A GENIUS with bad medical care!
justaguitardude Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - Apologize accepted. no hard feelings.I was in a bad motorcycle accident. crawled a mile n half in 2 days for help. 2 years to learn to walk. im living off 120mg of morphine a day.. i can relate to depressions. Rory helps me get through the days. Peace.
Shadowplay95 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - Sorry to here it dude. I'm glad Rory's music is reaching out to help. Lets hope you have/got better medical advice than he did! Take care.
thicko70 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - The common cold can kill you, but a woman turned me to alcahol. I know its not Rory's song but that is blues at its best. I raise a glass to the guitar genius from Dundalk.
bluesman101 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - i was lucky enough to see rory many times in montreal. great musician and a great guy.
Steipp Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - thicko70 I hope you mean your from Dundalk, because Rory is from Ballyshannon County Donegal.
thicko70 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - Steipp, too much alcohol, I apologise profusely, must have been thinking of an other Irishman. Best wishes from Scotland. Bushmills rules :)
