Jul 7, 2008 - Yes, This IS the one I've been looking for. I checked out the other related videos with Van Morrison, Peter Rowan, Sinead O'Connor and Luke Kelly performing this and this is by far my favorite. Thanks for putting it up so quickly.

Jul 7, 2008 - WOW, Tom you amaze me. I've NEVER seen any of Patrick Kavanagh's poetry performed before. Such a wonderful, ornery old devil. I wish I could get hold of a complete collection.

Jul 7, 2008 - Hell, I love Mark. But I love this song even more, so let's get it straight...NOBODY does it like Luke Kelly and the Dubs.Nobody. It's the only version you ever need to hear. An incredible banjo player and a sainted Irish voice, and a poem for the ages. Just search for Luke's version. You'll find it, and know.
suharude Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Just now i saw Luke Kelly's On Raglan Road and it's awesome.

Jul 7, 2008 - I rather Ronnie singin it. i think Luke was over rated

Jul 7, 2008 - nice backing pity a bit the staccato vocal
TadRapidly Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - There is something in this music that is reaching for God.
nsorens Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - The lyrics from the Kavanaugh poem weren't written for this music (or any music), so Mark's comments at the start are erroneous. Kelly put it to the music later on and claimed that it was with the poet's blessing. A great song in any case. I prefer this version over Van Morrison's exaggerated version and Joan Osborne's plodding one.
nsorens Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - By the way, if you like this, I suggest you find Knopfler's "Lily of the West". "A Night in Summer Long Ago" is also in the same mold.
caomhain Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Luke Kelleys' was great but the song and poem are so good there are many great versions. Mr. Knopfler just seems sound as pound on the ground. Talent and humility and respect for the music. No feigned class.
