Jul 7, 2008 - Nah. I READ about it, and posted it for the other folks to read. I didn't make an assumption. But, if you want to keep pretending like Lennon wasn't a heavy user, and this song wasn't recorded post-Beatles' LSD introduction and during the probable height of their use, that will work for you I suppose. I don't think this song was initially intended to be about Vietnam, but Across the Universe put a cool, perceptive spin on it.

Jul 7, 2008 - True. Although not THE first metal song, it is agreed upon by many music historians that "Helter Skelter" is at least one of the first Metal songs ever. The Beatles are arguably the most influential band in the history of the planet.

Jul 7, 2008 - The song represents going to a happy place when all you have is going down. When you get there you can't get harmed by anything pretty much. If you want to get there you have to get high and you feel really good when you're high. Please respond to this message instead of messaging. I don't visit unless someone responds to my comment or I want to watch a video.

Jul 7, 2008 - Yeah you're right. Strawberry Fields was an orphanage near John's home in Liverpool. Every now and then, he and his aunt would go down there and play. It was his happy place. Like you said, Strawberry Fields is a happy place one can escape to.
